Since 1988 Daisy Barnes has worked as an artist and painter in the English Watercolour tradition. Her subjects include landscapes, seascapes and flowers, drawing her inspiration from the atmospheric scenery of the North York Moors, its valleys and coast.
From the historic stones of the great abbeys of Fountains, Rievaulx, Byland and Whitby, to the light and colour of the wild moors and the coastline, she uses watercolour to capture the moods of the Yorkshire countryside.
"And overhead the never-ending sky".
Watercolour can take on a life of its own and Daisy sometimes uses the medium in more abstract ways to exploit its properties, pushing the boundaries and mixing with other media
